S7 1200 Firmware Update 4.5.2 – What’s new?
The Siemens PLC S7-1200 CPU firmware update V4.5.2 replaces the FW V4.5.1 and corrects the following issues:
- S7-1200 CPU FW 4.5.2 – Security corrections and improvements
- Corrections to S7-1200 CPU access protection and the Web server menu related to Web server user passwords
- The ability for CP modules to receive data after errors occur
- TSAP-ID addressing of rack and slot 0
- Correction to an issue where the File-ReadC, File-WriteC, and File-Delete instructions could prevent a second download from the Siemens TIA Portal to the S7-1200

Some Notes Before Download S7 1200 Firmware Update 4.5.2
- Existing Siemens PLC S7-1200 CPUs firmware V4.x can be updated to firmware 4.5.2.
- An S7 1200 firmware update v4.5 is a replacement compatible with an S7-1200 CPU and firmware version v4.0 – v4.4. This enables the use of a real existing S7-1200 CPU with FW v4.5 with an engineered v4.0 – v4.4 based on an existing TIA portal older versions project. The new firmware features cannot be used in that case.
- To configure the PLC S7-1200 CPUs FW V4.5 we need Step 7 – TIA Portal with version V17.0 and higher, Basic or Professional. You can easily download it on 365evn.
S7-1200 Firmware Update Instructions
To update firmware S7-1200 PLC to version v4.5.2 (or another version) we need:
- A Simatic S7-1200 CPU with firmware version v4.x
- Connection cable, power supply
- Software: TIA Portal v17
- The S7 1200 firmware update file v4.5.2
- To update firmware PLC S7-1200, we can use a SIMATIC S7 memory card or the “Online & diagnostics” -> “Firmware update” function on TIA Portal
- Note: Keep the power supply, and the connection good during updating the firmware PLC S7-1200 CPUs.
