Siemens Prosave V18 Upd1 Overview
Currently, on the market, Simatic HMIs are being used a lot in factories in different fields. Of course, Siemens Prosave v18 upd1 supported all HMI series as Simatic Basic Panel, Mobile Panel, Micro HMI, Comfort HMI, and Smartline HMI with the latest version. Usually, this software is available when you install the TIA Portal v18, V17, V16…, WinCC, or WinCC Flexible 2008. But if you haven’t installed it yet, you can install it independently in this article. Below are some main functions of the Simatic Prosave:
- Firstly, backup and restore the HMI program.
- Secondly, upgrade the Simatic HMI firmware
- Thirdly, get all HMI information (model, version …)

System requirements
Firstly, to install Prosave V18.1 we need:
- Windows operating system:
- Windows 7/8/10/11 Home/ Professional/ Enterprise. I recommend using Windows 10 or higher.
- Windows Server 2016/ 2019 Standard
- CPU, RAM: as the Windows OS recommends.
- Hard disc recommended: SSD/HDD with at least 1.5 GB available memory space.
- Additionally, install all Microsoft Security updates for your operating system as available.
Secondly, you can install the PROSAVE SIEMENS v18 upd1 to replace the older version (Simatic Prosave v16, Prosave Siemens v1, v15…). Additionally, if you want to use the software for Smart Line HMI you need to change the language to Chinese (refer to the previous post).

How to install Simatic Prosave v18 update 1
- Firstly, download the install source file (below link)
- After downloading the file, extract it to the drive.
- Then, run the setup file, you might see a notice to restart the Windows before installing the software.
- After the Windows restarted, follow the guide and install Siemens Prosave v18 upd1.
- Finally, open and enjoy it!
