S7-1500 Firmware V2.9 and ET 200 CPUs firmware 2.9 – New functions:

• Extended for the security functions:
  • Use of X.509 certificates and TLS for security. It is applied to Human-machine interface (HMI) and PG/PC communication.
  • Confidential configuration data is protected.
  • Advanced encryption for the S7-1500 CPU access level passwords.
  • Possibility to use an SMC (Simatic Memory Card) to set or change the password to protect confidential S7 1500 PLC configuration data 
• Supported Media Redundancy Protocol (MRP)

S7 1500 Firmware 2.8 – What’s new?

V2.8 firmware for S7-1500 brings you some new and improved programming instructions:

• New instructions – “File Delete”: It can be used to delete existing files on the SMC.
• SET_TIMEZONE block: It works now (in V2.0) edge-controlled – as in the S7-1200 PLC.
• TMAIL_C instruction: It has been extended.
• Improves the performance of the instructions: CMP, Serialize and Deserialize.

Some notes about the S7-1500 firmware download

• The S7 1500 CPU firmware version 2.8 (or 2.9) can be operated with a display with a firmware version lower than 2.8 (or 2.9).
• To use the new functionalities on S7 1500 firmware v2.9 (or v2.8), the system must be configured in TIA Portal v17 (or TIA Portal v16).
• S7-1500 & ET200 CPUs with firmware version V2.9 (or V2.8) can also be used with the TIA Portal version lower than V17 (or V16). However, we can not configure and use new functions with the current firmware. Download TIA Portal (V15.1 – V17) on 365EVN.
