ProSave v18 is the newest version of the HMI service tool. Prosave v18 supported every HMI series as Micro HMI, Comfort HMI, and Smartline HMI… We can backup, restore programs, and update firmware for the HMI without installing the programming software.
Prosave V18 Overview
ProSave free download provides all the functions necessary to connect and transfer data between the PC and the Siemens Simatic HMI device.
- Backup and restore the HMI program data via the “Backup/Restore” function
- Prosave v18 supports the transfer of authorizations (not under Windows 7)
- Installation and removal of drivers and options
- Information pertaining to installed and installable options on an HMI device.
- Updating the HMI firmware (operating system) via the “OS update” function.
Prosave v18 – Note
- Prosave v18 supports all HMI series including the newest model Smartline HMI v4.
- We can install the PRO SAVE v18 to replace the older version (Prosave v16, Pro save v17…).
- If you have the Smart Line HMI series (Smart line 700/1000), in default we do not see it on the list. Refer to the previous post to backup/restore the program on Smart Line HMI.
- When you back up an HMI program with Prosave, we have a “*.psb” file but we can not edit it. To edit the HMI program you must have the project file and HMI programming software (Windows Control Center Flexible, TIA Portal…).
- Configure the PG/PC interface on the configuration PC by the connection type selected in Pro Save software.

How to install Prosave v18
- Download the file (below link)
- After downloading the file, use UltraISO (if you do not use Windows 10/11) to extract or mount it to the drive.
- Run the “Setup.exe” file in the “Media” folder.
- Follow the guide and install v18.
