Preparing For Download Program To Smart Line HMI IE V4
To transfer the program to Siemens Smart Line HMI IE V4 from a USB Flash drive, we use the hardware and software as below:
- Siemens Smart 700 IE V4 FW V4.0.2 – 6AV6648-0DC11-3AX0. On the 365evn shop, you can find it here at a low price.
- WinCC Flexible SMART V5 English (Patch) on Windows 11 x64. However, you can download and use the original version (Chinese language) with the same functions and menu locations.

Transfer Program To Smart HMI IE V4 Use USB Flash
Follow the steps to download program to Smart Line HMI V4 from a USB Flash drive.
Step 1 – Create a new project with WinCC Flexible SMART V5 English
- Open WinCC Flexible SMART V5. Click on the menu “Project” -> “New…“
- Then, select the device (Smart 700 IE V4) and the firmware version of device (V4.0.2.0)
- Click “OK” and go to the main screen of the SMART Line HMI programming software.
- However, if you already have a project file, you can skip this step and open it.
Step 2 – Transfer Program from WinCC Flexible SMART V5 to USB
- First, click on the menu “Project” -> “Compiler” -> “Compile” to check any issues.
- Put the USB Flash drive into the PC, and the file system of the device is FAT32.
- Then, click “Project” -> “Download to device…“, and change the setting:
- Mode: Export for USB stick
- Drive: Select your USB drive
- Alias: Option (Ex: Smart_700_IE_V4)
- Tick (or untick): Overwrite user administration data and Overwrite recipe data records
- Then, click “Download” button to transfer the program from WinCC Flexible SMART V5 to USB drive.
- Finally, open the USB drive and check. We have a new folder “SIMATIC.HMI” that contains the program data.
Step 3 – Download Program To Smart Line HMI From USB Drive
- Put the USB Flash drive into the Smart Line HMI IE V4. Turn on the power.
- Then, go to the system menu, touch on “Control panel“-> “Service & Commissioning” -> “Project” -> “Next“, select the USB drive and project file.
- Check the settings before transfer.
- Finally, press “Start” and download program to Smart Line HMI IE V4.
- Waiting for the process to complete and enjoy the new program.
