PLC S7-200 SMART V3 Series is the latest Siemens SMART PLC. The V3.0 CPU provides different models with diverse features and capabilities that help you create effective solutions for your varied applications.

What’s New In PLC S7-200 SMART V3 Series?

The new S7-200 SMART V3 brings two different types of CPU modules, standard and economical, to fully meet the various needs of different industries, different customers, and different devices. As an expandable CPU module, the standard type can meet applications with large demands for I/O scale and relatively complex logic control, while the economical CPU module directly meets relatively simple control needs through a single machine body.

Only the following S7 200 SMART V3 CPU models with firmware V3.0 support the new features. And note that CPU models with firmware V3.0 cannot be downgraded to V2.8.3 or any previous versions.

PLC S7-200 SMART with FW3.0 and STEP 7‑Micro/WIN SMART V3.0 release provides the following new features:

Enlarged memory ranges

The CPU memory of CPU ST40, SR40, ST60 and SR60 increased.

Security

The PLC Security Setting panel offers the following options for user access control and the password
management:

• Disable PLC Access Control
• Enable PLC Access Control
  • Enable PLC Protection
  • Enable User Management
• The default and recommended condition for the S7-200 SMART is “Enable User
  Management”.

Brand New Motion control

STEP 7‑Micro/WIN SMART V3.0 brings brand new motion control support for variable programming and support for PLC open standard instruction set. Introducing brand new motion control:

• Strong support for PLCopen and industrial process objects
• PTO and PWM support 200 kHz frequency
• Supports up to 16 controlled axes, including a maximum of 5 PTO axes, 2 encoder axes and 16
  virtual axis.
• Add cam and gear functions

STEP 7 Micro/WIN SMART V3.0 PLC Programming

STEP 7‑Micro/WIN SMART V3.0 release provides the following new features:

• DB2 user storage area is added based on the programmable variables
• Advanced variable programming functionality
• UDT and Array data type added
• Function block added

High-Speed Couter (HSC) Enhancement

• Supports up to 8 HSC
  • Unidirectional support 200 kHz
  • A/B phase support 200 kHz, 4 times frequency support to 800 kHz
• The pulse, direction, and reset signals corresponding to each HSC channel can be selected within the range of I0.0 ~ I1.7.

PTO enhancement

• Support up to five PTO
• Multi-segment PTO and PWM support 200 kHz frequency

Add new features to menus

• Open Log Folder
• Login
• Migrate
• Card encryption

New Instruction
The Move instructions move a data value between the same data types from a source (constant or memory location) IN to a new memory location OUT, without changing the value stored in a source memory location.
